At New Morning Market, community has always meant showing up for one another in real, tangible ways. It's not just something we believe in, it's something we practice every day through long-standing partnerships, local support, and a shared commitment to the well-being of our neighbors. For more than 20 years, one of those partnerships has been with Safe Haven of Greater Waterbury.
Safe Haven provides critical shelter, advocacy, and support services for individuals and families experiencing domestic violence and crisis. Their work is rooted in care, dignity, and safety, helping people not only find immediate refuge but also begin rebuilding stability and independence. Over the years, we've seen firsthand the impact of their mission and the strength of the community that stands behind it. For many, Safe Haven is more than a place of refuge – it is a turning point.
This summer, we are honored to feature Safe Haven through our Round Up at the Register program. In addition, we will be collecting high-need items that directly support survivors of domestic violence and those in their care. These everyday essentials may seem simple, but they provide comfort, dignity, and a sense of normalcy during incredibly difficult moments.
Summer is one of the most challenging times of the year. As school routines pause and many community support systems shift, needs often increase while resources become more stretched. For the individuals and families Safe Haven serves, access to basic necessities becomes even more critical. That's why community support matters so deeply and why we're inviting you to help.
On Wednesday, July 1, from 11 to 4 p, representatives from Safe Haven will be in the store to share more about their mission, answer questions, and connect with customers. We encourage everyone to stop by, say hello, and learn more about the important work they do every day.

Two Ways to Help
From now through the end of the quarter, there are two simple ways you can make a difference:
- Round up at the register to donate your spare change directly to Safe Haven.
- Donate items from the wish list above by placing them in the designated collection area in the store.
Every contribution matters. A single donated item, a small round-up, or even taking a moment to learn about Safe Haven's work helps strengthen our community and provides meaningful support to people navigating some of life's most difficult circumstances.
We are grateful to our customers who continue to participate year after year and to Safe Haven for the essential work they do throughout our community. It is an honor to stand alongside them this summer and support their mission in a way that is both practical and deeply human.
Together, we can make a real difference one act of care at a time.
