This month we are proud to partner with Connecticut Foodshare through our Round Up for a Cause program. The mission of Connecticut Foodshare is to provide nutritious food to people in need. A thriving community free of hunger—that’s the vision of Connecticut Foodshare as a whole. Connecticut Foodshare supports individuals and families – from one end of the state to the other – by addressing root causes, creating long-term solutions, and distributing nutritious food through local partner programs in an effort to alleviate hunger.
With community needs continuing to be at the forefront of our mission here at New Morning Market, partnering this holiday with Connecticut Foodshare helps put this mission into action and allows for it to grow outside the walls of the store and within the community. Connecticut Foodshare serves local Fairfield, Litchfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London, and Windham counties, home to 71% of the state’s population and to 65% of the state’s food insecure. Last year they distributed enough food to prepare more than 23.9 million meals.
By uniting with local organizations and businesses like New Morning Market, Connecticut Foodshare can work towards comprehensive solutions that address immediate and long-term needs, bringing us closer to a future where no one has to worry about having enough food. And that’s goodness we can all share in.
