This August we have been rounding up for Green Village Initiative (GVI). This fundraiser supports GVI as they grow food, knowledge, leadership, and community for a more just food system. Green Village aligns with so many of the guiding principles at New Morning Market (sustainability, agriculture, inclusivity, and education) making it an easy choice for collaboration.

Says Eleanor Angerame, GVI’s Executive Director, “Green Village Initiative is honored to cross-pollinate with New Morning Market for the August “Round Up for a Cause. GVI and New Morning Market both believe in community-run food systems that support local farmers and growers in our communities and beyond so this partnership is a natural fit. New Morning Market’s generosity for Bridgeport urban farmers, gardeners, educators, students, and youth this month is inspiring. We hope you stop in to shop local in Connecticut and “Round Up for a Cause” this August!”

Green Village Initiative’s farms and gardens nurture a grassroots movement of urban growers of all ages across Bridgeport. They manage a network of Community Gardens, School Gardens, Reservoir Community Farm and a Youth Leadership program, for the benefit of the community. This summer, a partner program called Food For Thought was launched by cross-pollinating with Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo and Cooperative Educational Services to celebrate the reopening of the New England Farmyard. The public can learn all about rare Heritage Breeds from farming experts—and how wild creatures help New England farmers every day.

Please join us in supporting Green Village Initiative by rounding up your change. Together, we can discover how to provide delicious, nutritious foods for ourselves, our families and our communities.
