Baker

$17-18/hour DOE

 

What you’re great at:

· Providing quality bakery items in an efficient, professional manner.

· Executing recipes accurately to provide consistent product quality for our customers.

· Performing quality checks on ingredients and finished products.

· Creatively using icings, glazes, fillings, and other decorative items to enhance item presentation.

 

A day in the life:

· Produce quality breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, pies and bars to include cake-decorating and finishing pies, all cooling, wrapping and labeling of products.

· Must follow recipes as written to produce consistent results of end product.

· Complete the assigned production schedule within allotted time frame.

· Understand and recognize quality ingredients and use them efficiently.

· Demonstrate and adhere to the highest standards for safe food handling as indicated by the food service department.

· Understand and practice standard FIFO.

· Work with peers in a variety of work spaces and conditions.

· Demonstrates good decision making in production management of stocked goods (raw, refrigerated and shelf stable) with respect to constantly changing availability.

· Ensure all cooking and food storage areas are maintained in sanitary, orderly condition meeting Health Department standards.

· Ensure proper storage and labeling procedures.

· Use proper forms for recording unsellable items and waste based on kitchen production.

· Participate in periodic inventory counts.

· Maintain department equipment in working order, report any damage of equipment or tools to the supervisor in a timely fashion.

· Follow the department staffing schedule and guidelines for changes.

    • Sharing your working knowledge of wellness & grocery offerings and trends.
    • Displaying excellent interpersonal skills.

    A day in the life:

    • Provides support in the supplement area by pulling backstock, re-pricing of goods and works on inventory projects.
    • Hang signs, checking that items are ringing correctly.
    • Ensures that Wellness displays, aisles and storage areas are clean and in orderly condition.
    • Be aware of merchandising plan for the Wellness Department, help to maintain it and give feedback to the department supervisor to ensure its success.
    • Maintain attractive, fully-stocked, rotated and faced sections. Reports stocking priorities to the department supervisor for assignment to stockers. Stock as needed and time permits.
    • Ensure accurate, up-to-date labeling (or shelf tags) for department items.
    • Watch for inventory that is not moving, overstocked or in danger of going out of code and alert the department supervisor.

    Job Requirements:

    • Requires flexible hours, evenings and weekends are a must.
    • Regular, predictable attendance.
    • Takes initiative to help other areas of the store when needed.
    • Must wear closed-toe shoes.

    • Purchase specific product lines (vitamins, supplements, herbs, and natural body care products) to maintain
      appropriate in-stock levels, inventory turns, to ensure a steady supply of products customers want and to
      adequately accommodate specials
    • Evaluate vendors and investigate new sources of supply for recommendation to Wellness Manager.
    •  Review vendor and broker promotional offerings and work with the department management in the
      development, implementation and coordination of sales promotions.
    • Ensure accurate, up-to-date price labeling (or shelf tags) for department items.
    • Provide product information to customers, staff and sampling/demo staff. Stay abreast of developments in
      natural products industry through reading trade publications and talking with brokers.
    • Negotiate with vendors/brokers for demo samples and allowances.
    •  Review all invoices and make corrections to cost, size, price, etc., where required.
    • Monitor and when necessary, adjust product min/max settings to ensure adequate amounts of product are
      available while avoiding overstocking.
    • Regularly review margins and make recommendations for adjustments to department management.
    • Participate in inventory counts and price change projects.
